Botanical Art

This art form has an ancient history, rooted in the scientific illustration of plants and fungi. Since the late 20th century this precise and realistic art form has experienced a worldwide renaissance. Contemporary botanical art strives to harmonize the three goals of scientific accuracy, technical excellence and beauty.

Typical media for botanical art include watercolor, gouache, and other paint media, graphite, colored pencils, ink, scratchboard, and carbon dust. Photos and computer generated images are excluded.
